Amelia specialises in socially-engaged art, that is, art which uses people as its primary medium and fosters a spirit of collaborative participation in exploring a variety of social issues.
While studying for a master’s degree in this discipline at Salford University, she developed a deep interest in using creativity to engage and unite people. This interest intensified in the face of restrictions brought about by the numerous lockdowns imposed throughout the Covid-19 pandemic, which made social isolation an ever more poignant issue.
With inspiration garnered from an artist residency in Luxembourg, Amelia established her own enterprise, Meanderers, through which she has explored the social benefits and creative possibilities of walking art, using two different kinds of activity: ‘Drifts’ and ‘Walkshops’.
Amelia’s creative talents are diverse. Alongside her development of Meanderers, she is a longstanding member of Nottingham’s Young Producers collective, run by local organisation City Arts, through which she has been a collaborator in a such projects as the Nottingham Poetry Festival. She also hosts regular events at The Carousel, a vibrant Nottingham artists’ studio and co-working space.
